The violinist Elisabeth Jess-Kropfitsch has been giving concerts in the world’s main music centres for years. She plays the great violin concertos as well as the main solo compositions by Bach, Paganini, Kreisler a.o. and the complete chamber music repertoire. She is violinist of the world-famous Jess-Trio-Wien and with this ensemble gives numerous concerts all over the world. Her unique way of playing the violin continues Wolfgang Schneiderhan’s school. From early youth until her final exam (diploma) at “Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst”, which she passed with distinction, she was taught by this outstanding violinist and teacher.
She wins numerous competitions, for example the international violin competition “Città di Senigallia/ Italy” and changes from learning into teaching artist: She becomes lecturer for violin at the “Wiener Musikhochschule” and assistant professor with Prof. E. Melkus, Prof. I. Ozim, Prof. J. Pospichal and Prof. M. Frischenschlager. Then she teached at the Joseph Haydn Institute of the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and also at the Joseph Haydn Konservatorium Eisenstadt in cooperation with the music university in Bratislava.
Since 1th October 2011 she is university professor for violin on the University for Music and performing Arts of Vienna.
In connection with various first prices in national and international competitions the number of concerts steadily increased. The artist’s international career takes its beginning in Vienna (Konzerthaus, Musikverein), and moves on to Paris , Salzburg, Mailand (Teatro Piccolo), Palermo (Teatro Golden), Jerusalem (Rebecca Crown Hall), Berlin (Philharmonie), Rom, Basel, Tel Aviv (Beit Ariela), Barcelona (Palau de Musica), London (Purcell -, Wigmore Hall), Warschau (Philharmonie), Hamburg (Musikhalle), New York (Carnegie Recital Hall, Lincoln Center), Zürich (Tonhalle), Graz (Stefaniensaal), Peking (Beijing Concert-Hall), Nagoya, a.o. Together with the Jess-Trio-Wien she gives artistic form to all piano trios written by Ludwig van Beethoven under Giorgio Strehler’s patronage in Milano and Plays in regular abonnement concert series in Konzerthaus Vienna (six concerts each season since 15 years). Radio- and television productions (ORF, SRG, ZDF, NRD, RAI, a.o.) present the ” extremely pretty violinist Elisabeth” – as a critic described her – to a huge audience all over Europe. Together with her brother Johannes she performs in her own TV-series “Elisabeth Kropfitsch plays Fritz Kreisler” with ORF, plays in BBC – productions and various live-productions. As a soloist she plays with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg (Brahms, Beethoven), the Festival Strings Lucerne (Martinu), the orchestra of the “Südwestdeutscher Rundfunk” (Bach), the Niederösterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester (Mendelssohn, Gattermeyer), the Bohusla Martinu Symphonie Orchestra (Blechinger), the Wiener Solisten (Haydn), the Wiener Sinfonietta (Mendelssohn), the Laibach Philharmonic Orchestra (Beethoven), the Capella Itropolitana (Bach), the Nagoya symphony orchestra (Mendelssohn) , Moskau and St. Petersburg symphonic orchestra (Beethoven) a.o. very successfully. She recorded numerous CDs with EMI, Gramola, Hungaroton, Rondo.

Elisabeth Jess-Kropfitsch was a member of the “Musikbeirat” of the Austrian Bundeskanzleramt, Member of the “board for equal treatment” at the music university Vienna and member of the board of the First Austrian Women’s Chamber Orchestra. She is leader and soloist of this orchestra playing works by Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Williams a.o. and organizes the concert series and the season tickets of “classic muerz” of the “Kunsthaus Mürzzuschlag” as artistic director. Besides she was head of the staff council of Joseph Haydn conservatory Eisenstadt.
She recorded numerous records with Rondo, EMI, Gramola and Hungaroton. While touring through Japan and China the artist played W. A. Mozart’s violin concert seven times in various cities which was live broadcasted by 15 Asian TV-stations.
Her and her brothers’ development and career is shown in the book “Jess zur Musik – von den Anfängen bis zum 1000. Konzert” which was published by “Niederösterreichisches Pressehaus”, Austria’s biggest publishing house.
